Pirate Queen Goes Broadway

The musical, written by the team who created "Les Miserables" and "Miss Saigon," will open March 22 at the Hilton Theatre. Preview performances begin Feb. 23.
The title character will be played by Stephanie J. Block, who has toured as Elphaba in the musical "Wicked" and portrayed Liza Minnelli to Hugh Jackman's Peter Allen in "The Boy From Oz" on Broadway.
The book for "The Pirate Queen" is by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg, with music by Schonberg and lyrics by Boublil and John Dempsey.
Directed by Frank Galati, the show will play an out-of-town engagement Oct. 3-Nov. 26 at the Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago.
